For those who are asking about Jeep Wrangler and Suzuki Hybrid
1. Suzuki
See the reason we haven't added the hybrid engine under Suzuki is because this hybrid powertrain is developed by Toyota, and to keep the game fair we decided to not include that hybrid engine under Suzuki and to keep it restricted to Toyota only. similarly, we haven't added any copy pasted cars from Suzuki under Toyota aswell
2. Jeep
The reason why we didn't add the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler is that these cars don't belong to this list, I've not included brands like BMW, merc, and Audi because these brands are luxury brands, and just like these brands grand Cherokee and Wrangler are luxury cars with extremely high price points,
Just like Jeep Toyota also offers their LC 300 and Vellfire in India however again adding those cars to the list could turn around the whole point of this Video.

I own an Elite i20 Asta diesel version, I bought it in august 2014, still using it. The car has run around 3.2L KM and the only chande I had to go through was the clutch plate and assembly that too once. Other than that I have never felt that my Car’s engine underperformed, car dynamics are still intact and it’s a rugged high performance car, great controlling even at high speeds, a very very few chances of body roll. Suspensions are still working fine even after 10 years, because of high ground clearance, it easily pass through rough terrain and the turbo kick is still as same as a new model. New i20 is nothing as compared to this old model. A very strong car with a good chassis

There are only two parameters that are relevant in scoring engines.
1. Performance
2. Reliability
Engine to Car model ratio, Fuel Type scores etc just skew the ranks, but doesn't matter much. I mean, what do I care if the same engine exists in 10 cars, as long as my car has good performance and is reliable?

I do not agree with the engine to car model ratio metric. Having many engines by a car brand is foolish in the long run, since developing such different engines and maintaining spares for each of them adds to the cost for the company. Cleverly reusing good and reliable engines is a good strategy by car makers .
Agree with that
Agree👍
Agree!
Totally agree
I would have agreed if not for Mahindra, you don't have to make different engines but just retuning it a little bit to suit that particular model is something car manufacturers should do.
Making the engine a bit more sporty for some models while making them somewhat calmer for others is better, it gives us more options
Great video guys!! the data is well summarized and neatly presented. Keep this up.
Personally when I bought MG Hector it was primarily due to a few reasons, I think it’s the perfect blend for an indian car driver- it’s in SUV, powerful and reliable engine, super premium and reliable interior with a chunk of features, solid build quality and safety features. I don’t see any cons except Mileage which can be a great concern on its own for some people. Except Hyundai and Kia I don’t see any car brand offering similar stuff.
Wait for some years it will show its true colour,MG is a failed company, how many mg cars u see on road
@@cannibalronny7314 which car do you own ? And the reason there are less MG on the road is that it’s a relatively new company, only 3 major models in IC engines and mainly most people can’t afford them- Hector is about 20L to 26L for top variant and Gloster is close to 50L. Plus mileage and maintenance. So realistically, India is still a developing country is most of its population below poverty line and most people able to afford a car opt for Maruti or Tata which are affordable thats it.

Engine reliability score, petrol engine performance score, long-term maintenance (number of issues & cost of maintenance), repairability, availability of service stations. These should have been the parameters for making an informed car-buying decision. Maybe you can make a separate video about that.
@Biturbomedia, I really the appreciate the video a lot but few observations.
1. Mahindra was given only a half point each for different tunes of a same engine whereas Suzuki got 1 point for the same.
2. Mahindra Thar Petrol comes with 1.5L 4 cyl Turbo with 150 bhp... but in the video it is shown as 2.0L. So, the total engine count for Mahindra should increase by 1 and its also a performance oriented engine, so that score for Mahindra should also increase from 2 to 3.

Mahindra’s 2L turbo petrol will give very less mileage and has been mainly developed for their overseas markets like Australia and South Africa. Good research but scoring methodology is totally flawed. You are adding scores of parameters at different scales. A better approach would be to divide each parameter score by maximum possible score on that parameter and then adding all 5 scores to arrive at the final value. It’s a big caveat which is distorting your entire ranking.

No man, this guy gave engine reliability score on the basis of public perception!! If thats the case how Tata can score very low on reliability of its engines? I mean they have the best selling model in the country, that engine came out in 2015, currently powers atleast 1 million cars. We have seen plenty of them have crossed 1.5-2 lakh km as well. Have we ever come across any problem with that engine? No. Thats the reason why they sell so much. Its low on NVH and performance but reliability is rock solid for Tata engines. Tata's reliability issues doesn't come from engine side, its mostly electronics.
@@nabeels1183Reliability can only be tested after 10 year usage. I haven't seen a Tata car above 10 year or 1,00,000 kms. Only few Indicas have survived. But I think Tata will become more reliable after 5 years. Currently it's only safety.

This is a flawed calculation. Very heavily biased by reliability score. Ideally all aspects of a manufacturer should have almost equal score. So a company having 1 highly reliable engine can beat a company with 3 engines with poor reliability depending on power and fuel type.
Go to motoroctane, if u want to see fanboy stuff
reliability is the main aspect when comes to engine. without reliability that engine is a shit piece of box. it doesnt matter how many engines you have until they doesnt have reliability. these cars after 100k kms is going to be a bigmess which doesnt have reliability. (from a owner of hyundai sonata - most unreliable car due to gdi engines).

@vishalvan3317 I own a 2019 hyundai sonata. Engine burns oil like anything. I change oil for every 6000kms as per the Company recommendation. Drove the car with utmost care. My car engine burns 1 litre of oil for every 400kms. And spark plugs issue is a night mare for me. Spark plugs burns off for every 1000-1500 kms. This issue is not only with my car. Every sonata owners after 100k kms are facing this. Company doesn't have a solution for this. Only solution is to change the engine. The one u are using are mpi engines from sonata ro Tucson, hyundai is using gdi engines .

Good analysis with data points. Gave me some clarity. Others are only going for features and customer reviews.
Very correct & in depth analysis. Worth appreciating. However I feel the following are recommendations
1 - Hyundai should have received 8 marks for reliability instead of 7.5 considering low problems in engines even after changed fuel & emission norms.
2 - if you have considered one engine with different power outputs in a different state of tune across product range for Mahindra then why have you not considered the 1.2L Kappa petrol engine with 83 PS in manual & 88PS with CVT in i20 ?
Clearly missed the 88 PS in i20.

This was a much needed video.. great work bro.
Mahindra is one Indian Brand that is really exciting in terms of what other projects they will be doing in the coming years.
Kon kon tata ka nam dekh kar video dekh ne ayahe❤❤
*What about build quality dude, This list is a joke* 😂
Engine reliability ki baat hori hi hai tum build quality valey har jga apna Rona roney aa jatey ho😂😂😂 kya karega build quality ka jab teri gaadi nay service centre may hi padey rehna hai 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for this informative video which gives comprehensive insights on all popular models particularly the engine configurations which are extremely important for deciding the right model. Customers often overlook the engine power as I did buying Honda WRV which feels underpowered compared to my Santro which was very peppy and delightful to ride. I endorse the ranking which is an eye opener ❤
Perfect ranking bro
Ekdam perfect ✅✅
